Planning a trip is an investment in moments and memories.  Most of us have limited budgets and time.  We want to get it right. We want to get the most out of our trip.

Often, folks take my walking tours at the end of their trip to Providence.  It is their last night when they walk along on Providence Ghost Tour, or save Parasols and Pocket Watches for 10AM on the Sunday they are leaving.  They are enchanted by our city and fall more deeply in love with Providence. Suddenly, they realize they’ve made a mistake! They don’t want to leave the city!

HOw Tours Enhance Your Experience

Walking tours give visitors the lay of the land.  Tours reveal fascinating, sometimes obscure tidbits about the city.  Guests notice interesting buildings, little cafes, and museums they may have missed walking around on their own.  Tours like Providence Ghost Tour and Parasols and Pocket Watches plant the seed of curiosity, but if you wait until the last night or last hours of your visit, you miss out on the opportunity to go back and explore.

If You Have Multiple Days

Many of our guests who plan carefully choose to take tours on the first or second day of their arrival.  This allows for them to enter buildings that might be closed during tour hours (especially the Ghost Tour, which is at night), and to get up close and personal with the stops.  Tour guides are also often able to provide recommendations and additional points of interest that are not on our tour.  Guests then have better context when visiting sites, because they understand the stories that built the city. They are able to get more value out of their visit to Providence.

For Those In A Time Crunch

Some folks are pressed for time. Their stay in Providence might even be less than 24 hours, just an overnight when they arrive at 6PM and are back on the road by checkout time the next morning. That means getting the most out of every hour, so a tour is perfect. A tour will let them see the sites and get a true feel for the spirit of the city.

The Lesson

It is always better to tour than not to tour, but if planning a visit to Providence, try hopping on a tour sooner rather than later to get the most out of your experience.
